For many, this will be about taking first steps following their experiences with remote education and home-learning, or using what you have better; for others refining digital approaches in their schools, colleges, universities and other settings.
Part of this will be sharing best practice, supporting collaboration and networking as well as looking ahead to how you can future-proof your edtech based on research and evidence.
Edtech UK provides a space for educators and people involved in the use and adoption of education technology, where conversations are topic specific and there are expert practitioners offering support. Developing learning, sharing ideas and supporting educators is our aim.
Action and advocacy is where our ambition lies. Edtech UK is an independent organisation, advisory forum and strategic body - using research and evidence across the sector to lobby for improvements and change for us all. As part of the Edtech UK community, we will listen to you and help take action for and with you. Our Edtech UK Advisory Forum illustrates our commitment to listen to the whole of the sector and our programme of webinars, think-tanks and roundtable discussion are where you can join in the conversation.
Meet the team
Ty Goddard, Executive Chair Edtech UK
Ty is Chair of Edtech UK, accelerating the edtech sector in the UK, and world-wide.
He is a well-respected influencer, globally-recognised adviser on education reform, #Edtech and the future of education and writer. He is a member of the DfE Edtech Leadership Group and recently led on the Dfe-funded Edtech Demonstrator Programme - a national network of over 50 schools and colleges, supporting remote education from the first lockdown in March 2020. This resulted in support for 4,000 schools and colleges across England - helping over 200,000 classroom staff and 2 million learners in just one year.
Previously, Ty worked as an adviser to the Department for Education on Extended Schools, and founded an influential public/private membership charity, British Council for School Environments.
Ty was also elected to Lambeth Council and became Chair of Education. He has also worked as the UK and European Public Affairs adviser to the NSPCC, and as the first National Campaigns Co-ordinator for Scope, the disability charity.
Ty is also Co-Founder of The Education Foundation, an independent organisation driving reform, technology and innovation across education - and 'parent' organisation to EdtechUK.
Nic Ponsford, Director and Co-Editor of Edtech UK Magazine
Nic is Director (Innovation) at Edtech UK and Co-Editor of Edtech UK magazine. She was on the national central team for the Edtech Demonstrator Programme, offering peer-to-peer support via 48 nationwide Demonstrator schools and colleges. She is now a Fellow of the RSA due to her work in #DiversityandInclusion as co-founder of the Global Equality Collective (GEC). An award-winning Media, Film and New Technologies teacher, examiner and writer; Nic is recognised as an edtech 'expert' #TechForGood and thought-leader.
Nic is also a published Harvard author of TechnoTeaching: Taking Practice to The Next Level in a Digital World, regular panelist and keynote speaker. Her editorial and writing portfolio includes The Guardian, The TES, TeachWire.
Nic is currently a Doctorate researcher at Bournemouth University #CEOP.
Joy Voysey, Head of Operations
Joy Voysey brings more than 25 years’ operational experience and a personalised approach to her role with both Edtech UK & The Education Foundation as Head of Operations.
Having a Masters in Information Studies, Joy has relished working in operational roles in a wide range of industries from academic libraries to architectural and construction firms. Joy has previously been Executive Director of a successful tech consultancy. She believes excellence comes from a keen eye for detail and consideration of all, applying these values to her full support of and committed to the goals of Edtech UK. Joy is driven to help create a successful society with a diverse and entirely inclusive educational system, providing opportunities for all.
Michael Pearce, Creative Director
Michael is the Creative Director at Edtech UK, an award-winning designer who focuses on clean, clear and concise delivery of information.
Graduating from London College of Communications (UAL), Michael went on to design packaging and carriage for a range of UK retail brands (including Sephora, Lush and Faith Shoes) before moving into the entertainment sector, where he worked with English National Ballet, Royal Opera House and Royal Academy of Dance. Michael’s work on the ‘Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo’ (The Trocks) was so widely acclaimed the rights were purchased for the global tour featuring in over 25 different countries worldwide.
His work now focuses on social and educational change, breaking down boundaries and publicising inequality with a range of organisations, from small companies to national political parties.
Harmeet Sahota Edtech UK Magazine, Advisor
Advocating an inclusive curriculum for all, Harmeet is a consultant, trainer and innovator with over 10 years school leadership experience. Specialising in EdTech innovation, streamlining processes and wellbeing, Harmeet understands the challenges of digital transformation in schools and has spoken at numerous events in Europe and the Middle East about positive change management.
Harmeet is the founder of www.curriculumwide.co.uk, a platform that provides schools with all the information they need to create a student-centred curriculum that will help improve outcomes for learners, as well as supporting the reduction of exclusions and student NEETs.
